On the second day of your Upper Mustang Trek, you’ll explore the vibrant and culturally rich capital city of Kathmandu. After breakfast, our guide will take you on a half-day tour to visit four of Kathmandu’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites, each offering a glimpse into the rich history and spirituality of Nepal.

Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple): Perched atop a hill, Swayambhunath offers panoramic views of the Kathmandu Valley. You have two options to reach Pokhara: a scenic flight or a picturesque drive. Both options offer unique experiences and stunning views of Nepal’s diverse landscapes.

Option 1: Scenic Flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara (25 minutes)

If you choose to fly, you’ll board a domestic flight from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. The short 25-minute flight is an adventure in itself, offering breathtaking aerial views of the Himalayan range, including Langtang, Manaslu, and Annapurna. As you approach Pokhara, you’ll be greeted by the sight of lush green hills, terraced fields, and the serene Phewa Lake. Upon landing at Pokhara Airport, a representative from Himalayan Walkers will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel.

Option 2: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (6-7 hours)

If you prefer a road trip, you’ll embark on a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. The journey takes approximately 6-7 hours, depending on road conditions. The drive follows the Prithvi Highway, winding through picturesque valleys, terraced farmlands, and traditional Nepali villages. If you have selected the Basic Option, you’ll bypass the flight and travel by road from Pokhara to Kagbeni.
